Manuel García Caracuel

After graduating with a degree in law from the University of Granada in 1998, Manuel developed his career within two major law firms in Spain before founding GCLA. Manuel specializes in property and commercial litigation, as well as insolvency and claims with an international element.

As a member of the Málaga Bar Association, he has acted in a variety of high value claims within both commercial and civil jurisdictions, including the Court of Appeal of Málaga and the Supreme Court. He is head of the Private Law Department, and has particular experience handling complex disputes defending private clients and companies in real estate development, banking and insolvency claims.

Manuel is also an invited lecturer at the University of Málaga, Department of Private Law, where he develops his research activity on the field of harmonization of European contract law. He is fluent in English and French, besides his native Spanish.

Areas of expertise: civil and commercial litigation, insolvency and intellectual property.

José Ángel López Fernández

José Ángel is a co-founder of GCLA and his practice area is Administrative and Public law. He graduated at the University of Granada in 1998 and then specialized in Public law. He is currently a member of the Bar Association of Málaga.

At GCLA José Ángel is head of the Public Law Department and he has intervened in a number of cases on behalf of individuals and companies against the administrative authorities, both local and national. He also has experience in civil cases, defending individuals’ interests, involving residential property, licensing and real estate development. He speaks English and Spanish.

Areas of expertise: civil and administrative litigation, town planning, data protection and immigration law.

Rafael García Caracuel

Rafael is head of the Real Estate and Conveyance Department at GCLA. He has a broad private and commercial real estate practice including property development and the acquisition and disposal of investment property portfolios. He is a graduate of the University of Granada, and holds an LLM by the Instituto de Empresa (IE) Law School of Madrid.

Before founding GCLA he acquired a vast experience of the real estate market in Costa Blanca and Costa de Almería. He has also managed an international branch in Italy of a major Spanish firm. He is currently a member of the Bar Association of Málaga.

He is fluent in English and Italian, besides his native Spanish, and he has intervened in various foreign investment operations, assisting both developers and private investors.

Areas of expertise: real estate law, construction law, town planning, conveyance, foreign investments, corporate compliance, immigration and litigation.
